Configuring digital video recording
You can configure the following settings:
- Video recording folder
- Limit the tape to x MB
- Reserve x M Bytes on HD
- Auto delete the oldest tape in video folder when no space on HD.
To setup video recording:
- Click Setup, and then click on Files tab.
- To change the default video recording folder, click Browse to select a folder for storing the video recording.
You can find the video files in the
directory you specified in this dialog box. Each video file is named with date and
time for you to manage them easily. You may find the file by using Microsoft Windows
Explorer and double-click on month-date-year-hour-min-sec.wmv to view the video.
- Limit the tape to x MB
You can limit the tape size for your video by
inputting a number in the Limit the tape size to box. Watchdog will switch the
recording to a new file when current video file reaches the limit.
- Record as JPEG frames
This option is for advanced users who need to store video as JPEG frames.
The file system may become very slow and drag down the overall system performance when there are too many files.
Video may generate huge volume of JPEG frames very fast. Use this option carefully.
- Reserve x M Bytes on HD
You can input a number here to limit hard drive space being used by Watchdog. If you enter
1000 MB in the box, Watchdog will reserve 1000MB free space on your HD. Note Watchdog
will reserve at least 1536M for the operation system.
- Auto delete the oldest tape in video folder when no space on HD.
You may want to turn this feature on if you want Watchdog to delete the oldest
video recording in your video folder to recycle the hard drive space. Please be careful with this option.
Your WMV video files in video folder may be deleted if you check the box.
- Includes motion detection related files
Check this box if you wish Watchdog to delete motion detection related files when the
hard disk space reaches the limit.
