Accessing Watchdog from the Internet
Before you start Watchdog for remote surveillance, you may need to configure
your router.
- Find out Watchdog's IP address
go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt or MS-DOS
Enter ipconfig and you'll see your current IP address. To access Watchdog, start IE and type in http://your IP address in the location bar.

If Dynamic IP service is enabled, you
can go to http://www.webcamsoft.com/enap/member2.asp
to check your URL.
IP address such as 192.168.x.x,
127.0.0.1, 10.0.0.x is not accessible from the Internet. If your IP address is 192.168.x.x or
10.0.0.x, please configure your firewall or router.
If you are behind a router, logon to the router to find out your external IP address.
- Start IE.
- Enter the router's IP address. (Please refer to the user manual of your router. Below is a sample screen
shot of Router's setting.)

- Please refer to the router's user manual to check if they support Port Forwarding or Virtual
server. Otherwise, you may not be able to access Watchdog from the Internet. For more
information, please refer to Network Help.
- If you can't view the streaming video on the Internet, you may need to
disable the firewall on Windows XP.
Note: if you are using Windows Media Player 6, please upgrade to 9.0 or above.
