How do I configure LinkSys router?

Please make sure that your router supports port forwarding before you continue.

If the IP address of Webcam123/Watchdog is 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x you need to configure the router or firewall. The router/firewall functions as an operator and forwards the request to the web server. Each request must go through the router. If you don't configure IP forwarding, the router simply drops the HTTP request without sending it to Watchdog/Webcam123.

You must have a static IP address assigned to this computer. To check the settings, right-click My Network Place on the Desktop and then select Properties. The IP address of the default gateway should be the Internal IP address of your router.

Please refer to the user's manual and check if the router or firewall supports IP forwarding or virtual server before you setup your router.

1. Start your browser and type the Router's IP address in your browser's address bar (http://192.168.xxx.xxx).

2. Enter your username and password and then click the Advanced tab.

3. Click on the Forwarding tab.

4. On the Forwarding tab, enter 80 in the TCP/UDP port or ports. Then enter the correct IP address of your Webcam server , e.g. 192.168.0.3

5. If you wish to enable viewing by Windows Media Streaming, you need to create another port. The default port is 81. Repeat step 4 to create a port for Windows Media Streaming.

Note:

1. Testing port forwarding inside the router may fail depending on the router model. You may want to test it from the Internet. Or use the port check tool.

2. Port 80 may be block by some ISP or may not work with some router. If you've configured the router properly, try port 8888. You need to change the web server port of Webcam 1-2-3/Watchdog as well. You may want to check your router's manual for detail information regarding the port you can use.

3. You must have a static IP address assigned to this computer.

4. You may need to reboot the router to take effect.
